IIM Rohtak conducted its 2nd Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT) today with the help of google form for its five-year Integrated Program in Management after class XII( senior secondary exams). Due to the current pandemic situation, the exam dates were being postponed multiple times in the previous few months. However, to the surprised everyone, just 4 days before the entrance exam, IIM Rohtak announced for the exam will be conducted through a google form, which is unheard of. A day before the exam, the instructions released for the exam by the institute, made the exam open book, open material, leading to confusion and apprehensions malpractices.
IPMAT by IIM Rohtak is a computer-based test designed to test the analytical and reasoning abilities of the candidates. The paper, being conducted in a google form format, the structure was altered and students were given only 60 questions (20 across each section-Quant, Logical Reasoning and Verbal ability) instead of 120 questions, with the duration of the exam curtailed to 45 minutes, with no sectional time limit. Each correct attempt would fetch 4 marks and each incorrect attempt would attract a penalty of 1 mark.
Post a break of 15 minutes after the MCQ paper, students were required to attempt the Written Ability Test (WAT) wherein they had to write essays on two short topics provided. The time duration for the WAT exercise was 30 minutes.
Just when the exam started, many students were in for a shock as the website had crashed. Many students complained that they could log in only after a gap of 10-15 minutes which affected the number of attempts.
Like the previous year, the paper was easy with no questions from Higher Maths as they had thought because of the IPM factor.
Candidates will be short-listed for Personal Interview basis their performance in the IPMAT consisting of WAT and their past academic records. The final merit list will be drawn from among the shortlisted students, at a later stage.
