The programme: B.Sc (Hons) Data Science & Economics
This is a 4-year, full-time residential programme offered as two majors:
- B.Sc (Hons) Data Science — with an Economics minor; training in stochastic processes, algorithms, data structures and applied business.
- B.Sc (Hons) Economics — with a Data Science minor; economic theory with statistical inference, econometrics and behavioural insights.
You may apply to one or both majors (indicating a preference order). The programme runs at IIM Bangalore's Jigani campus (~30 km from Bannerghatta), and is fully residential.
Note for aspirants: this new 4-year B.Sc (Hons) Data Science & Economics is a different, separate route from the IPMAT-based 5-year IPM at IIM Indore. Different exam, different degree, different timeline.

How selection works
Admission runs in two stages.
Stage I — shortlist. You must score a positive raw mark in every section of the test, and clear the section-wise percentile cut-offs. (In the 2025 cycle, the General-category first-shortlist cut-off was around the 80th percentile in the QADI section, with lower cut-offs for reserved categories.) A pre-interview score is then built as:

Two reference letters (from teachers) are mandatory for candidates shortlisted after Stage I, submitted online by the referees before the deadline.
Fees & financial aid
The programme fee is ₹8.5 lakh per annum for the first two years (covering tuition, hostel and test fees), with a limited, board-approved increase in years 3 and 4. Mess/living costs of roughly ₹8,000–₹10,000 per month are additional. IIM Bangalore offers need-based financial aid for deserving students.

The test rewards aptitude and speed across QADI, Logical Reasoning and VARC — with negative marking, so accuracy and section balance matter. A focused plan:
